Stuffed nian gao – by Irene Kwek

Another way to eat nian gao. Stuffed nian gao with home made red bean paste, served with coconut. Bro-in-law said very nice wor..
Red bean paste:
Soak red beans for 1-2 hours
Boil 1 cup of red beans in 5 cups water, turn to low heat after boil and continue to cook for 30-45 mins
Mash the red beans with 3 teaspoons of icing sugar

Coconut:
Steam coconut with a pinch of salt
Preparation:
Cut the nian gap into slices of 0.5 cm thick
Sandwich the red bean paste between 2 slices of nian gao
Keep in fridge for 30 mins then take out and cut into smaller pieces
Steam the nian gao for 10 mins and serve with coconut.
